UPDATE: Flag Football registration has been extended through February 11th.

The weather may still be chilly outside, but our Athletics team is busy coordinating the Spring Athletics season.

If your athlete is keen to play in a Southlake Athletics League this Spring, then now is the time to secure your player’s spot! We offer a diverse array of athletics opportunities for young athletes to develop their skills, build life-long friendships, and have fun in a competitive and safe environment. Check out this season’s athletics offerings:

RISE Flag Football

Registration for Flag Football is open now until February 5. Divisions offered include K-2, 3-4, 5-6, and 7-8 (Grades are based on the current 2023-24 school year).

This year we are excited to offer Kindergarten and Girls Only Divisions to allow even more athletes to discover the love of football! Interested players must bring a team and contact Jonathan Weeks, Athletics Supervisor, for more details.

Spring Girls Volleyball- Individual Registration

Don’t miss the deadline to secure your player’s spot in Girls Volleyball! Registration is now open until February 12. Divisions offered include 8U, 10U, and 12U (age as of Sept 1, 2023).

Love sports and mentoring young athletes to their full potential? Get involved with Southlake Athletics! All our leagues run on volunteer coaches. If you are an interested coach, the Athletics team is always looking for positive volunteers. The weekly commitment is around two hours, and no prior coaching experience is required!

Spring is in Full Bloom in our Upcoming Senior Trips!

Spring is in full swing, and the Senior Activity Center is taking advantage of the newly bloomed season to get outside and explore.

It’s finally nice and warm in Texas, so there’s no better time to admire the fresh spring flowers. Nature lovers, mark your calendars because two incredible trip opportunities are coming up in April that you won’t want to miss.

Friday, April 1, 8:30 AM- 5:30 PM: Texas Azalea and Spring Flower Trail in Tyler
Explore a new town and admire the natural beauty all around it! The Azalea National Historic District comprises about 950 homes built in the early 1900s and features endless miles of blooming flowers. The Azalea and Spring Flower Trail is a floral wonderland for photographers and admirers alike! Marvel at the residential gardens and historic home-sites during the best season of the year with a guided tour! This is a day-long trip, so plan accordingly and bring money for lunch. Wednesday, April 6, 9:15 AM-3:30 PM: Chandor Gardens in Weatherford
Take a stroll outside and admire the beautifully designed Chandor Gardens in Weatherford. These gardens capture the ornate design of ancient Chinese architecture and the elegance of a formal English garden. Marvel at the 30-foot waterfall and relax by one of the numerous fountains. There is truly something for everyone at this aesthetic and tranquil destination. Join us for a guided tour as we discover this enchanting garden. A Perfect Saturday in Southlake

Spring is in Southlake, and Saturday is the perfect day to enjoy the seasonal weather!

There’s no better time to get out and enjoy time outside than a weekend during Spring. The weather in Southlake has been beautiful lately, and this Saturday, April 10, should be another glorious day. If you’re still undecided about what to do this weekend, we have put together a schedule for the perfect Saturday in Bicentennial Park!

Rise and Shine

Starting the day with Latin moves and global beats is sure to set the mood for a festive day. Champions Club members, bring the whole family to the Aria Amphitheater at 10:00 am for a morning of Zumba fun and exercise! It’s bound to be a party with Zumba instructors Ann, Rosy, and Cristina, so be prepared to move to the rhythm!

Afternoon

Stick around The Marq for our Champions Club Member Bash from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. Member Appreciation Week will close off with an afternoon of free food, fun games, bounce houses, fitness challenges, and exciting prizes! There will be something for everyone, so make sure to bring the entire family and let the games begin!

Late Afternoon

Enjoy some time in the afternoon sun by walking along the picturesque trails within Bicentennial Park. Pick up a tennis game, cool off in the splash pad, and explore the thrills of the zip line in the Playground. Check out the Log Cabin and brush up on your Southlake history. Don’t forget to take a picture in the Liberty Gardens!

Join us at the Community Dinner and Celebrate Southlake on Saturday, March 23, 2019!

On Saturday, March 23, 2019, the City of Southlake invites you to celebrate Southlake!

The event kicks off at 5:00 p.m. with a Community Dinner on the terrace of The Marq Southlake. It will be a special opportunity to get to get to know your neighbors while breaking bread together. A variety of local cultural cuisines will be available for purchase and there will be plenty of community seating. You may also bring blankets and chairs as lawn seating will be available.

Following the dinner, continue to celebrate Southlake from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. through cultural performances and activities. The Community Dinner and Celebrate Southlake activities all take place at the Legends Hall at the Marq promenade and Aria Amphitheater located at 285 Shady Oaks Drive.

Campout in Southlake Parks this Spring

Spring is right around the corner! Before we know it, the sun will be shining, flowers will be blooming, and Southlake will be full of green again. What better way to enjoy the beautiful Texas weather this spring then with a campout for the whole family!

Join us for a campout on Saturday, May 7 – Sunday, May 8 at the Bob Jones Park Day Camp Area (near the BooBoo’s Buddies Dog Park). The cost is $15.00 per campsite (includes 1 camper) and each additional camper is $10.00, up to a total of 5 campers. Children 2 and under are free. Be sure to register early at as Camp Sites fill quickly!

Southlake Parks and Recreation wants to help you and your family re-connect with nature. Campout activities will focus learning about and enjoying the great wide world around us. Cost includes dinner Saturday evening and breakfast Sunday morning. Tent set-up may begin at 4:00 PM Saturday afternoon. Children must pre-register with at least one adult. Campers must provide their own tent, sleeping bags and camping gear.

Parks and Recreation is now hiring part-time staff for the spring and summer!

With spring starting and summer just a few months away, the Southlake Community Services Department is now hiring part-time staff. Spring and summer are the busiest times of year for our department with camps, programs, and activities taking place every day across our facilities.

Positions offered include Recreation Leader (for Summer Programs & Summer Camps) and Recreation Specialist.

Recreation Leaders assist with recreation programs and activities while Recreation Specialists supervise those programs and activities.

Learn to dance with Grace and Grooves this Spring

This spring, Southlake Parks and Recreation is offering Grace & Groove classes for 6 – 13 year olds in Folk & Semi-Classical, Bollywood, or Bharatnatyam dance. Grace & Grooves is an award-winning dance company known for their years of experience in authentic folk as well as fusion categories.

Grace & Grooves is focused on teaching youth the techniques and styles of these traditional Indian dances. Classes are structured for students who want to learn to dance at any level. Students will develop grace and poise in addition to improving their self-confidence and personality.

Southlake's annual Spring Family Campout will be held May 16 – 17, 2015

It might be hard to believe with all the crazy weather we’ve had lately, but spring is actually right around the corner! Before we know it, the sun will be shining, flowers will be blooming and Southlake will be full of green again. What better way to enjoy the beautiful Texas weather in the spring then with a campout for the whole family! Southlake’s annual Spring Family Campout is also the perfect way to celebrate National Kids to Parks Day on May 16!

Southlake Parks and Recreation wants to help your family re-connect with nature. Campout activities will focus on teaching the whole family explore and enjoy nature and this beautiful world around us. We will practice Leave No Trace principles while keeping an eye out for Texas wildlife – and even take a shot at trying to find the Milky Way!

The campout will be Saturday, May 16 – Sunday, May 17 at the Bob Jones Park Day Camp Area (near the BooBoo’s Buddies Dog Park). Tent set up will begin at 4:00 PM on Saturday. The cost is $25.00 per campsite, which includes the cost for two campers. Each additional camper is $10.00 and there is a limit of five people per campsite. The registration fee includes dinner on Saturday and breakfast Sunday morning. Children must register with at least one adult.
