Dragon Football Spring Practice Kicks Off Monday

Holmes

Quarterback Mason Holmes is one of four offensive returning starters for the Dragons.

The Carroll Dragon football team begins spring practice Monday at Carroll Senior High School.

The Dragons will practice for four weeks and conclude with the Spring Game at Dragon Stadium on Thursday, May 26.

Carroll is coming off a 9-3 finish last season that ended in the Class 6A Division II area playoffs against Denton Guyer.

The Dragons are returning several key players from last year including senior-to-be quarterback Mason Holmes. He is one of four returning starters on offense, which also includes tackle Carson Green, who has committed to Texas A&M, and running back Jack Johansson.

Carroll’s defense returns eight starters including first-team all-district safety Robert Barnes, who has committed to Oklahoma, defensive tackle Ryan Miller and safety Barrett Buck.

Carroll opens the season Aug. 26 at home against Tulsa Union.

The Dragons will also be led by a new offensive coordinator this season. Mark Humble replaces Clayton George, who left to become the new head coach at Tyler Lee.

The spring practices will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday and scrimmages will be held on Fridays, May 6, 13 and 20 at Dragon Stadium from 5 and 6 p.m.
