Parking and Traffic Safety Information for Stars and Stripes Event – July 3rd

We hope you and your families are getting ready for the annual Stars and Stripes event on July 3rd starting at 6:00 p.m. in Town Square.  We want to help make it a fun-filled time for you and your family by passing along some important traffic safety tips.

S.H. 114 Access

According to DPS Police Sergeant Mike Dunn, if you are planning to park in Town Square, and use east or westbound S.H. 114 to get here, take the Carroll exit. Westbound drivers will crossover the bridge and continue eastbound on the 114 service road, parking on the north end of Town Square. Eastbound drivers should get off at Carroll and continue on the service road to the Town Square entrances on the north end. Sgt. Dunn says, “Following this route will help folks arriving and leaving the Stars and Stripes event and when the event is over, drivers can leave by exiting onto the eastbound service road and accessing S.H. 114 at Kimball.” “Our goal is help citizens plan ahead to help keep traffic moving smoothly,” Dunn added.

It is also important to note that there will be no southbound traffic allowed from the north parking lots. All traffic will exit to the service road. Also, no parking will be allowed on the grassy areas next to the service road. “No Parking” signs will be posted and enforced.

In addition, drivers traveling from east of the Southlake/Grapevine area should plan ahead for traffic issues around the DFW Connector Project. Traffic information and lane closures may be obtained along with app downloads for IPhone and Android at http://www.dfwconnector.com/index_noflash.php.

Southlake Blvd. & Garage Access

If you are arriving via Southlake Boulevard, you may either turn north on Carroll to park on the west side of Town Square or use Central to access the east side of the Square or use the east parking garage. Please make a note that the west parking garage will be closed for the event.

At the end of the Stars and Stripes event, all traffic on the west side of Town Square will exit (right-turn only) onto Carroll heading northbound. There will be NO southbound traffic out of the Square allowed onto Carroll Avenue.

All traffic on the east side of the Square from Main Street, will exit on Central southbound.  If you park in the east garage, all exits will be directed to Central and from there you will go north to the S.H. 114 service road to exit the Square. The west side exits to the east garage will be closed.

Drop off area

There will be an in and out drop off at 600 State St. at the bottom of the hill directly in front of the Police Services entrance. From there, you will be able to access the service road east bound. Please have your passengers ready to exit the vehicle when it comes to a stop. This will help alleviate traffic congestion onto North Carroll.

“Drivers who are planning to use Southlake Boulevard to get home once the event is over need to be aware that they will not be allowed to access Carroll Avenue to head northbound towards S.H. 114,” said Dunn.  “Traffic officers will be in the area to make sure that drivers are following the plan so that everyone gets in and out safely and with as little delay as possible.”

If you follow the guidelines listed above for traffic flow, your visit to the Stars and Stripes event will be an enjoyable one with minimal frustration and delay. “Our main goal is public safety, as well as ensuring that everyone has a great time,” said Sgt. Dunn.

For visitors who are not parking in Town Square

Lighted Crosswalks will be available and manned by Southlake Officers at the following locations:

  • 1709 and Central
  • 1709 and Carroll
  • North Carroll and Prospect
  • North Carroll and Federal Way

To ensure everyone makes it home safely, it is imperative that everyone uses the designated crosswalks. Crossing 1709 on foot from the Central Market area is very dangerous and PROHIBITED!  Bike Officers will be patrolling the area and will take appropriate enforcement action for your safety.

If parking on the side streets off of Carroll, please remember these important items

  • Park facing the correct way and no more than 18” from the curb.
  • Do not block driveways or park in someone’s yard.
  • Make sure your vehicle is not in the intersection, it will be towed.
  • Be courteous to the neighborhood.

And most of all, WATCH FOR PEDESTRIANS!

Handicapped Parking

Handicapped Parking will be available on Main Street by Starbucks and Mi Cocina. There will also be Handicapped parking available behind Sweet and Sassy.

Barricades in Town Square

Barricades will go up early in the morning on July 3rd. The interior roads of Town Square will not be accessible by vehicle. Please plan accordingly. The parking lots and east garage will be open until full. As the lots and garage become full, they will be closed.
