Tarrant County to Mail Renewal Voter Registration Certificates

Tarrant County Elections Administrator Steve Raborn is announcing that his office is mailing new voter registration certificates to all active registered voters in the county as required by state law.

The new certificates will be mailed no later than December 31st from Fort Worth and are valid from January 1, 2014 through December 31, 2015.  The new cards, which are orange and white in color, replace the current yellow and white cards which expire at the end of 2013.  Registered voters who receive the new voter registration certificate should destroy the old certificate and keep the new certificate for voting in 2014 and 2015.

Only those registered voters whose registration is active and current will receive the new cards.  Registered voters who have had previous mail returned to the Elections Department will not receive a renewal certificate but were instead mailed a notice with a detachable address change card to send in for updating their voter registration record.

Any person who has been previously registered in Tarrant County and does not receive a new voter registration certificate by January 7th should contact the Elections Department at 817-831-8683 to check the status of their voter registration.

Voters are encouraged to check the information on their new certificates for accuracy.  Registered voters who have moved or had a name change should notify the Elections Department in writing to update their records.  Voters placed on the “suspense list” are subject to having their voter registration canceled if their records are not updated within two federal general elections.

The deadline to register to vote or update your existing voter registration record for the March 4, 2014 Primary Elections is February 3, 2014.
