Dragon Wrestlers Qualify for Elite National Tournament

Dragon Wrestling LogoThe Carroll Dragon wrestlers made the trip to Clear Spring High School in the Houston area recently to compete in the Texas Super 32 Qualifier.

The meet serves as one of multiple nationwide qualifying events for the prestigious Super 32 Wrestling Tournament in Greensboro, North Carolina Oct 15-16. The tournament will host the nation’s best high school wrestlers who have qualified for the event through placing in their respective state tournaments, early qualifying tournaments or through a wild card process.  

Six Dragon wrestlers made the trip to Houston. Returning UIL state placer, Adam Lindberg, UIL state alternate, Jake Johnson and 2x UIL regional placer, Cameron Haddock all captured titles at the event. Senior Jacob Mazey finished second, falling to Haddock in the finals 1-0.

Sophomore Brendan Noetzel battled back to finish 4th. The top 4fourfinishers in the event automatically qualify for Super 32. Sophomore Ben De Lemos also competed, going 2-2 and falling one match short of the 3rd place match.

In all, five earned automatic bids to Super 32, the others will enter the wild card process to compete in October.
