Relay For Life Southlake returns to the Carroll High School campus for a fifth year this spring. The annual all-night event is scheduled for Friday, May 2. Organizers estimate over 2,000 participants in Southlake and neighboring communities will make Relay For Life Southlake 2014 a big success.
Teams are forming now. Visit www.RelayForLife.org/southlaketx to sign up and begin fundraising.
“We depend on each and every team and each and every person to make our event successful,” said Relay For Life of Southlake Event Chair, Kristie Millican. “Last year our event raised over $140,000 for American Cancer Society to continue this fight on behalf of our family and friends that have been faced with cancer.”
Millican says new and returning Team Captains help keep the spirit of Relay going from year to year. Team Captains are encouraged to attend upcoming meetings scheduled for Wed. March 19 and Wed. April 16 at the Carroll ISD Administration Center located at 2400 N. Carroll Avenue. Both meetings will be held from 6- 7 p.m.
Relay For Life Southlake takes place on the football field and back parking lot of Carroll High School. The Relay Committee organizes the event to include a “midway” area of games, activities and food, while Relay is underway. An entertainment stage is set up on the field to entertain teams walking the track. This year in an effort to capture the full energy of the event, organizers say they will move campsites to the football field rather than outside the track. Team fundraising activities will take place at campsites to allow teams to continue to raise funds with fun activities that others can share.
Everyone participating in Relay For Life Southlake will need to know the following key dates and times. Bank Day- the day when teams are asked to turn current funds raised- is Monday, April 28. Teams can submit fundraising totals between 10 a.m.- 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.- 7 p.m. at the CISD Administration Center. Campsite set-up is scheduled for Thurs. May 1 from 5- 8 p.m. and will resume Friday morning, May 2 from 9 a.m.- 2 p.m. Games, food and other activities will begin Friday, May 2 at 5:30 p.m. The annual Rachel’s Rally at 6:30 p.m. featuring Carroll ISD students will help kick off the Relay Opening Ceremonies scheduled for 7 p.m.
Relay For Life Southlake is an American Cancer Society Fundraiser and co-sponsored by Carroll ISD.
