Legends Hall is a gorgeous state-of-the-art wedding and events venue located in the heart of Southlake. On any given weekend our venue hosts life’s most memorable occasions such as weddings, baby showers, bridal showers, birthdays, anniversaries, and graduations. Booking ahead of time is the key to securing your spot in this beautiful place. If you’ve ever wondered who’s in charge of keeping our venue busy, and profitable, look no further than Sales Specialist Emily Wood.
Let’s get to know her better.
Emily has vast experience in the wedding and event industry. She began her career in 2010 during an internship in the Marketing and Events Department of NYLON Magazine in New York City. She’s worked for multiple wedding planners and restaurants as an Event Coordinator and helped open a wedding and events venue in Fort Worth called BRIK. Emily was at BRIK for two years selling and marketing the venue and working closely with clients on their events. Emily’s career eventually took her to Napa, California, where she worked for Visit Napa Valley, the Marketing and Tourism bureau for the City of Napa. In 2019 she returned to Fort Worth as an Event Coordinator for the ToroToro restaurant in the Worthington Renaissance Hotel. Emily made her way to the City of Southlake as the Sales Specialist for Legends Hall in August 2020.
In her current role, Emily enjoys “making that initial connection with clients. Whether it’s for their Wedding, Birthday Party, Anniversary, or Graduation, they are always so excited to find the right venue and start the planning process. It can be fun to be a part of that journey!”
Working in the events and wedding industry means that Emily keeps tabs on emerging trends. While not so common at Legends Hall, “we are seeing a lot of smaller, more intimate wedding ceremonies and receptions. Couples are really prioritizing who they want present for their special day. They aren't worried about inviting everyone they’ve ever met.”
Emily has a lot of fun hobbies she enjoys when she’s not booking deals and helping customers plan the most exciting celebrations of their lives. As a new Dallas resident, she enjoys exploring new neighborhoods and finding great local spots! She also likes spending time with her boyfriend Kelly, her dog Sookie, and kitten Eleven. A woman of many interests, she appreciates wine tasting, working out on her Peloton, and spending time with friends and family.

The City of Southlake Community Services Department celebrates Park and Recreation Month this July by telling “Our Park and Recreation Story.”
The United States has celebrated July as the nation’s official Park and Recreation Month since 1985. The City of Southlake is proud to follow that tradition. Just this week, Mayor Huffman proclaimed July as Park and Recreation Month in Southlake. This month highlights the vital and powerful role local park and recreation professionals play in building more vibrant, and more resilient communities across the country.
It’s no secret that access to public parks and recreational activities is vital to a healthy and thriving community. In Southlake, we are proud to have more than 1,000 acres of parkland and hundreds of programs and activities for all residents to participate in each year. We strive to be the premier recreation destination for our residents. It's what keeps us motivated to go to work every day.
When you visit one of our parks, The Marq, or participate in one of our programs, our goal is to create life-long memories for you and your family. Everything we do is for you! When you give us your time, we do everything we can to create a world-class experience for you.

Calling all recreation enthusiasts, go-getters, and civic-minded residents: The Marq Southlake is looking for volunteers this summer!
Summertime is here, and there are plenty of ways to get involved at The Marq Southlake. If you are looking to bolster your resume and learn life-long skills, register to become a Marq Volunteer.
The Marq utilizes volunteers in a variety of different roles in our mission to create life-long memories. Volunteers can serve at Champions Club and the Senior Activity Center by facilitating everyday operations and aiding with programs and events. Whether you are monitoring the Indoor Playground at Champions Club or helping at the Senior Activity Center, there is a position for you!
Volunteers are vital to our success at The Marq. Your time and dedication help us deliver world-class service to our members and allows us to remain the premier recreation destination in Southlake. While volunteers are an immense help to us, volunteering is also beneficial for you.
Volunteering is a resume booster and a fabulous way to learn new skills, but did you know that the benefits to your well-being go well beyond that? Volunteering builds a greater connection to your community and helps to make new friends and contacts. Volunteering can also combat stress and increase happiness and self-confidence. Knowing that you are helping others gives you a sense of purpose and achievement.
How to Volunteer:
New volunteers must submit a Volunteer Southlake Application and complete either a parental consent form (minors under 17) or a background check (adults 17 and older).
Once you have completed your Volunteer Southlake Application, you will receive an email from Community Services with a Virtual Orientation Video and a link to a Virtual Orientation Questionnaire. You must watch our Orientation video and fill out the questionnaire. When we receive your answers, you will be granted access to self-schedule your first volunteer shift through VicNet.
If you are already in Volunteer Southlake but never volunteered at Champions Club or the Senior Activity Center before, contact Milenka Lopez and state your interest in volunteering at The Marq. You will receive an email from Community Services with your Virtual Orientation Materials. Once you watch the video and fill out the questionnaire, you will be granted access to self-schedule through VicNet.
Former Senior Activity Center Volunteers must go through the Virtual Orientation to sign up for new Senior Center positions.

In an effort to accommodate space for social distancing, the December 1 Council Meeting will be held at the ballroom at The Marq Legends Hall at 5:30 p.m.
The Marq is located at 285 Shady Oaks Drive.
The meeting will also be streamed live through the Video On Demand service on the City’s website, however, due to the new location, the meeting will not be streamed on the City’s cable channel.
A recorded version of the meeting will be available on through the City’s Video On Demand service in approximately 48 hours after the meeting ends.
