Like a good neighbor who has recently moved into the neighborhood, Whole Earth Provision Co. is hosting a housewarming party, but this one will last an entire month! Beginning Friday, October 4 and extending through Sunday, November 3, Whole Earth Provision Co. will officially welcome residents and visitors into its newest (and largest) location in Southlake Town Square at 321 State Street across from the post office.

A calendar of special events include presentations on geocaching, birding and hostelling, in-store games and drawings, a prize wheel, as well as opportunities to meet company representatives from some of its favorite brands. Kicking-off the festivities October 4 at 6:30 p.m. is a presentation by Hostelling International: Women Traveling Solo. Volunteer educator Suzan Schnitzius will teach women how-to to plan, prepare, pack and travel smart  ̶  and safely  ̶  on their own.

“If you come into our store, it really paints a picture of who we are. Whole Earthlings are nature lovers, animal lovers, climbers, hikers, backpackers, many are world travelers, and we all love to have fun,” says company spokesperson Alicia Sullivan. “Our employees truly enjoy sharing our enthusiasm for the outdoors with customers and we strive to offer the highest quality products for experiencing life.”

In addition, Whole Earth Provision Co. will sponsor a cash register fund drive to benefit Bob Jones Nature Center in Southlake. For each donation of $20 or more that is made, the company will contribute $20.

According to Community Outreach Coordinator Bert Peeples, the Whole Earth is always on the lookout for great partners in the vicinity of its stores.

“Bob Jones Nature Center is a special piece of ground right in the urban environment and our staff found it to be a natural spot to get away from it all while building out our Southlake store,” he explained, noting they will also be a sponsor for the city’s annual tree lighting ceremony. “We participate in school PTA fundraisers, many different non-profits seeking cures for diseases, cultural events and others, but the primary emphasis for our philanthropy is in the area of the environment and public lands issues.”

Founded in Austin in 1970, the company prides itself on offering a fun, family-friendly environment with carefully chosen, earth-friendly merchandise that includes clothing and shoes for travel, adventure and fun as well as children’s toys, books and clothing. The company’s vision was to offer for sale some of the items that could be found in the pages of the iconic Whole Earth Catalog. For an item to be included in the Catalog, it must be useful as a tool, relevant to independent education, and high quality and/or low cost. Today, the company has locations in Austin, Dallas, Houston and San Antonio; Southlake is the first store in Tarrant County. For more information, visit www.wholearthprovision.com.
