Changes Approved to the Southlake City Code Regarding Public Smoking

The City Council recently adopted amendments to the City Code (Ordinance No. 907-A) in regard to public smoking. The City of Southlake now regulates the use of electronic smoking devices (e-cigarettes) in the same manner as smoking tobacco products.

The ordinance prohibits the use of both electronic and tobacco smoking products within all buildings in the City other than a private residence.  In addition, the use of electronic and tobacco smoking products within 20 feet of an entrance/exit of any building and in City Parks (except in designated areas) is also prohibited.

Violation of this City Ordinance is a class C misdemeanor, which is punishable by a fine of up to $500. Ordinance No. 907-A went into effect March 1, 2016.
