The Carroll Dragons suffered a season-opening loss last Friday to Tulsa Union

The Dragons fell 21-10 to the Union Redskins, ranked No. 1 in Oklahoma Class 6A-I at Dragon Stadium. The game was delayed 30 minutes due to lightning.

Carroll led 3-0 after the first quarter on a Kole Ramage 54-yard field goal, but Union led 7-3 at halftime and held the Dragon offense without a touchdown until the fourth quarter. Dragon running back Audricke Gaines scored on a one-yard run to cut Union’s lead to 14-10 early in the fourth quarter. Union answered with a 10-yard touchdown pass with 9:03 left in the game.

Dragon quarterback Mason Holmes was 13-for-27 with 176 yards and two interceptions. Carroll was held to 255 yards of offense. Gaines led the Dragons in rushing with 14 carries for 36 yards and receiver Jackson Davis had four catches for 97 yards.

This marked just the fourth loss for Carroll at Dragon Stadium, which opened in 2001.

Carroll returns to action Friday to host Arlington Martin (1-0) at 7:30 p.m. Last week Martin defeated Dallas Skyline 55-7.
