The APEX Arts League is excited to present The One O’Clock Lab Band in concert on Saturday, February 23rd at 7:00 p.m., at White’s Chapel United Methodist Church, 185 South White Chapel Boulevard, Southlake.
Three local award winning high school jazz bands will open the program, performing commissioned pieces written by composition students at UNT. They include:
• Lab Band 1 from Denton High School
• Jazz Ensemble I from Newman Smith High School
• Carroll Jazz Orchestra from Carroll Senior High School
The One O’Clock is a Grammy-nominated jazz ensemble from the internationally acclaimed University of North Texas’ Jazz Studies Program. The One O’Clock has performed locally and internationally for over 65 years, including concerts in in Russia, Mexico, England, Ireland, Australia, Portugal, Finland, Norway, France, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Canada, Germany, Italy, Japan, Hong Kong, Poland, and Thailand. The band has produced more than 60 albums over the years, receiving an unprecedented six Grammy nominations in its storied history.
