"Vial of Life" Program Provided Free to Southlake Residents

Southlake Fire Services has introduced a new program to assist residents in communicating important medical information in the event of an emergency. The “Vial of Life” program is used by emergency personnel to assist them in treating someone who is not able to speak or is unconscious.

This is how the program works:

  • Resident completes the medical information form.
  • The form is placed inside the vial marked “Vial of Life”
  • The vial is placed inside the resident’s refrigerator. This is an ideal place because it has been shown that the refrigerator’s contents are preserved in the event of a fire.
  • The “Vial of Life” decal is placed on the refrigerator door and/or the front door leading into the residence.
  • The resident is now a participant in the program.

A vial and medical information sheet must be completed for each individual person who lives in the residence. Their personal information is kept safe and secure inside the residence. If a participants medical condition changes, a new medical information sheet must be completed.

The “Vial of Life” program is free to Southlake residents and are available for FREE at DPS Headquarters Fire Services Division located at 600 State Street. For more information please contact EMS Lieutenant Ryan Arthur at (817) 748-8328.
