A Concert with a Message Comes to Southlake- October 12th

Arts Council Northeast and the City of Southlake are pleased to welcome Vocal Trash for a concert on Saturday, October 12, 2013. The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. at Rustin Pavilion in Southlake Town Square.

Described as “‘Glee,’ with a kick,” Vocal Trash asks you to recycle your imagination as their urban-themed, Broadway-style show energizes audiences of all ages with first-class singing, industrial-style drumming, comedy antics and award-winning break dancing. With an emphasis on recycled instruments, this green-minded ensemble tours globally on its relentless pursuit to bring people together, utilizing the universal language of song and dance.

Through Broadway-quality showmanship across a spectrum of musical genres, Vocal Trash’s veteran performers provide an urban variety show, utilizing vocals, instrumentals, comedy and dance, with up-cycled instruments rescued from junkyards and the waste stream. With more than a decade of performances, Vocal Trash is America’s only full-length stage show that walks its “trash talk” to emphasize earth-friendly messages of reduce, reuse and recycle.

“The goal is to keep discarded, earth-burdensome waste out of landfills,” says Steve Linder, who created Vocal Trash in 2000 and later revamped the show’s format with fellow artist and stage performer Kelsey Rae. “While we love that kids hear our messages, the show – and its music – is appropriate for every age. Families like us, too.”

Through the MasterWorks Series, Arts Council Northeast and the City of Southlake present free performances on selected evenings throughout the year. The MasterWorks Series is designed to offer a variety of quality family entertainment to the community by utilizing the talent of local, regional, and national artists.
