The 2022 Water Quality Report is Now Available

Earlier this week, Southlake residents received a postcard with a QR code that directed them to the 2022 Water Quality Report.

The report summarizes drinking water quality based on data tests and assessments from 2021.

It also gives a detailed overview of Southlake’s water source, water drinking systems, and a quick reference guide on how to read the report.

Why is having a water quality report important?

“Water quality impacts us all, from wildlife to plants, to animals; by including a quick reference guide, we believe the more you know about and understand your water, the better,” Public Works Environmental Coordinator Madisson Dunn said.

According to the report, the City of Southlake’s water meets safe drinking water quality standards set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (E.P.A.) and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (T.C.E.Q.).

“The City highly invests in making sure our water is safe,” said Dunn, “We take samples of chlorine from our water distribution system daily and collect 30 bacteriological samples every month in compliance with T.C.E.Q. and E.P.A. requirements; our water tanks are also inspected annually, drained, and disinfected for cleanings.”

The report also includes information on water conservation along with strategies and resources to help improve water usage.

“Customers can track their water usage by downloading the EyeOnWater app, which allows you to set leak alerts and monitor your daily water usage. They can also sign up for the Water Irrigation System Evaluation (W.I.S.E. Guys) program to have a professional come out and evaluate their sprinkler system,” said Dunn.

In addition to those resources, the City has developed a Water Conservation Plan that focuses on strategies to reduce the consumption and loss of water.
