When Carroll ISD students and staff returned from the winter break, the district unveiled an exciting new feature.

CISD launched new campus websites at all 11 schools for the spring semester. The new websites are more user-friendly with large photo galleries and pages are optimized for use on mobile devices.

As technology has evolved, the district is committed to moving with the needs of its users. This website, hosted by SchoolWires, offers new features for users including, Upcoming Events, Photo Galleries, School News and more.

Each campus homepage offers large high resolution photos and will regularly be updated to showcase our students and staff. The websites also feature mulitple icons for the most-clicked items, making options bold and easy to find.

The websites have a similar look and feel across all 11 campuses, allowing users a familiar experience moving to different sites.

Carroll ISD launched its new district website at the start of the school and slowly migrated the campuses for the spring semester launch. The campuses are still in the process of putting the final touches on the websites, after first moving the top priority pages.

The website is managed by the Carroll ISD Board & Community Relations Department and each campus manages its website. If you have any questions about the websites, contact 817-949-7080.

New Feedback Form on

An important feature has been added to the City’s website: a feedback form that automatically displays on the home page and is easily accessible on every page via a pencil icon (located on the right side).

The easy-to-use form is recognizable by “How are we doing?” at the top with a series of five emoji-style icons below, which represent an overall 1-5 rating system based on expressions. Love the website? Click the smiley face on the far right. Can’t find what you’re looking for? Convey your sentiments with a frown. A place for specific comments is at the bottom of the form.  NOTE: All submissions are anonymous unless someone chooses to leave their name and/or contact information in the comment section.

According to Pilar Schank, deputy director of communications, the feedback form is an important tool to measure the effectiveness of the redesigned, responsive website that was launched in the spring.

“City of  Southlake is our most utilized source of information for residents, businesses and visitors. It’s critical for us to know what’s working, what’s not and how it can be improved,” states Schank, noting that she has already received suggestions that have resulted in improvements being made to the site.

“Our goal is always to provide the best customer service 24/7, which is why we’ve placed tremendous energy and resources into developing a website that is informational, visually appealing on multiple devices, and provides the information people are seeking.”

Carroll ISD Launches New District Website

Carroll ISD is launching a new district website for the start of the 2016-2017 school year.

The new site will offer parents, students and staff a more user-friendly experience on their personal computer and mobile devices. It’s the first redesign of the Carroll Dragon site ( in the past five years.

The district’s improved website launches Friday morning and includes a new design with larger feature photos, a cleaner type face and easier ways to find important information using icons and direct links.

All Carroll schools will make the transition to new sites during the fall semester, and will be ready for the launch of redesigned campus websites in January following the winter break.

Parents, students and staff can find their respective school on the district’s site by going on the home page and clicking on the green button at the top right side of the page that reads “CHOOSE YOUR SCHOOL.” From there, it will open a page with the links to the 11 campuses.

“Please be patient with us during this transition as we aim to provide a new and improved website for our parents, students and staff,” said Rick Herrin, CISD’s Assistant Director for Communications. “Many of the heavily-trafficked pages will be part of the home photo slider in the middle of the district’s landing page. This will provide easy-to-find important information for the start of the 2016-2017 school year. The district will continue to move information, documents and pages over from the previous website”.

The new website will also provide a much-improved experience for mobile users.

“The new website is responsive to all devices and offers improved navigation,” Herrin added.


City Launches New Mobile-Ready Website for Customer Service On-the-Go

With a mission of providing outstanding value and unrivaled quality to residents and businesses in Southlake, the City realizes the importance of customer service, both in person and online.

This is why the City unveiled its new, mobile-ready (also known as “responsive”) website March 28, which offers information, resources and tools easily accessible on a desktop, tablet or smartphone.

According to Pilar Schank, deputy director of communications, the new website is a strategic combination of intuitive design, sought-after content and the latest technology.

“The website is one of our most important communication tools, which is why we dedicated a significant amount of resources to ensure it is informational, visually appealing on multiple devices, and provides the information people are looking for,” states Schank. “We know most people go online first when searching for City news, so we made sure the site conveys who we are, what we do, and how and when we do it. In addition, we listened to residents to ensure the new website meets their needs and provides value.”

Designed by CivicPlus, which specializes in government websites, the City’s new online portal features community images, updated navigation menus, and interactive tools designed to facilitate quick access to information – most notably being a “How Can We Help You?” search bar at the top of every page.

The revamped home page offers the most frequently searched for information including meeting agendas, maps, development news, upcoming events, City Council members, and top stories from My Southlake News. The navigation menu at the top of each page offers quick access to the rest of the website:

A new addition to the primary navigation menu is Transparency, which was added as a result of resident’s increased desire to know more about their local government.   This section encompasses City communication resources, as well as public information requests, the current fiscal year budget, and most recent Citizen Satisfaction Survey.

Other new features include a left side navigation menu with quick links to popular sections; a “social hub” with social media channels for City departments; and the ability to share pages via multiple social media channels. Contact information, a site map and links to other City websites are located at the bottom of every page.

“The City’s primary website holds a vast amount of information and must serve a broad audience. It is our hope this new one-stop digital zone will meet the needs of all of our customers, whether they live here, do business here or are planning to visit,” Schank added.

New website debuts for The Marq Southlake

If you have visited Bicentennial Park recently, you’ve seen firsthand the rapidly emerging community recreation center, officially known as The Marq Southlake (Phase 1). Also under construction for the past few months has been the website for the new multi-purpose facility, which debuted May 20, 2015:

The website gives a glimpse of what is to come when Phase 1 of The Marq opens in late 2015. The premier activity and event venue will include Aria, an outdoor amphitheater and Legends Hall which houses a grand ballroom, conference and meeting rooms, the Club Lounge, a catering kitchen and a senior lounge; The Marq will be the new home for the Southlake Senior Center. Phase 1, encompassing approximately 23,000 square feet will be a state-of-the-art venue available for wedding ceremonies and receptions, corporate meetings and luncheons, social events, concerts and art performances and select City of Southlake community events.

To help Southlake residents, as well as welcomed visitors throughout the DFW metroplex (and beyond) envision the finished product of The Marq Southlake Phase1, the website has been constructed with images and details for the facility’s distinct areas and functions:

  • Weddings: Designed to be both elegant and comfortable, The Marq features versatile indoor and outdoor spaces for wedding ceremonies and receptions. A nearly 5,000 square foot ballroom (with dance floor) accommodates up to 300 guests (seated banquet style). The Club Lounge has easy access to the outdoor patio with fire features and lounge-style seating – both are ideal spots for a cocktail hour or after-party.
  • Meetings & Events: Whether you’re hosting a corporate retreat or multi-day seminar, this state-of-the-art event venue offers convenience and versatility along with high-tech amenities to ensure your next corporate meeting or social event is successful.
  • Aria: An outdoor amphitheater that can accomodate up to 1,000 attendees will play host to a variety of events, including concerts, theatrical performances, live entertainment and outdoor wedding ceremonies.   • Senior Center: A hallmark of The Marq is offering something for everyone in the community, including seniors. Legends Hall will play home to the new Senior Center featuring a lounge area, game room and fitness room for seniors to utilize.  Being located within The Marq will also allow more space for special events as well as additional rooms for taking classes and other activities and programs for members to keep their mind, body and spirit engaged in meaningful activities.

The new website also provides an online event booking form, links to all of The Marq’s social media channels and contact information for the Sales Specialist when you are ready to schedule a tour or book an event.

A  community recreation center has been in the City of Southlake’s Parks Master Plan since 1996 and became a top priority when it was frequently cited in the 2009 and 2011 citizen surveys. In August 2013, City Council put the plan into action when it approved $1.72M to design Phase 1 and the site plan was approved June 3, 2014. A groundbreaking ceremony was held September 27, 2014, and City Council approved the facility’s name October 21, 2014. It is important to note there will be no increase in taxes to construct or operate the facility.

Because of the magnitude of the project, The Marq Southlake will be built in two phases and has a multi-year development timeline:

  • September 2014 – Phase 1 construction began
  • Summer 2015 – Phase 2 design finalized
  • Late 2015 – Phase 1 opens
  • Fall 2016 –  Phase 2 construction begins
  • Early 2018 – Phase 2 opens

New Website for Town Square Hotel

Since opening in 2007, the Hilton Dallas/Southlake Town Square has set a precedent for outstanding guest service. This continues with the launch of its new website,, which features additional information about the hotel and local tourist attractions; new images of the property and its amenities; and social media links to Facebook, Twitter and blog.

According to General Manager Mike Hutchison, the new website is meant to supplement, not replace, the property’s existing page on the Hilton global website.

“The launch of this new, independent website is a milestone for the hotel and an important tool for our sales and marketing efforts. We realize the importance of online search when people are considering a hotel for vacation or a special event,” stated Hutchison, noting guests will be able to make reservations from both websites. “Our goal is to better tell our story through an expanded photo gallery, videos, social media, and a blog.”

The custom-designed website is organized into seven primary categories to fully showcase the hotel’s offerings for the leisure guest, corporate traveler, and event planner:

“We added the connect section to integrate our social media activity onto the website and encourage guest feedback on those platforms,” Hutchison points out. “Another  new feature is the careers section so applicants can apply directly to us.”
