Happy Texas Arbor Day! While most of the nation celebrates Arbor Day on April 24, in Texas we celebrate on November, 6. Why you ask? Because fall is the best time of year to plant trees in Texas. Thanks to the “Treemendous” Scavenger Hunt, we are celebrating Texas Arbor Day in style and planting five new trees in Southlake.

In early October, we challenged you to get outside and learn more about the trees you can find in Southlake. With more than 100 participants we randomly selected five winners to receive a 15 gallon Live Oak tree. Congratulations to our winners:

  • Mike Pryce Family
  • Tim and Terri Watson
  • The Trager Family – Davis and Kelly
  • The Bloedow Family – Zachary, Nicholas, Jillian, Wayne, and Jennifer
  • The Smits Family – Amelia and Jan

To all of our entrants – thanks for taking part in our scavenger hunt. We hope you enjoyed spending time in our beautiful parks and learning more about the trees in Southlake.

Are you inspired to plant your own tree now? Visit our website to learn more about the story of the 12 scavenger hunt trees and get some tree planting resources.
