Because of the current challenges obtaining water from our water supplier, the City of Fort Worth, Southlake’s water system pressure has dropped significantly and our tanks are dry. If you are able to get water from the tap, it must be boiled. Keep in mind that Southlake’s system has been configured by our operators to begin receiving water as soon as it arrives at our point of entry. Additional work will be required before the system can be placed back into service, but please know that crews in Fort Worth and here in Southlake are working very hard and are optimistic that we can re-establish service soon.

“Fort Worth is working to get its system back online, and while this is taking place, Southlake is not receiving new water from Fort Worth,” said Public Works Director Rob Cohen. “The City of Southlake buys treated water from the City of Fort Worth and has set up our system to receive and distribute it.”

Cohen added, “Southlake’s system has been configured by our operators to begin receiving water as soon as water arrives at our point of entry.  Additional work will be required before the system can be placed back into service. This work will occur after our water tanks are at a sufficient capacity.  Air will need to be purged from the system before it is re-pressurized.  We’ll need to flush the system and then perform mandatory TCEQ water quality testing before.”

The Fire Department has brought in alternative water sources to help with firefighting capabilities. While water is still available the City is asking people to conserve until further notice and to use bottled water for all essential consumption. If you are using water from the tap, it must be boiled. Residents are also asked to stop taking showers and using household appliances requiring water.
