May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and this week’s tip is to exercise!

It’s no secret that exercising is great when you want to improve your physical health. However, it is also an extraordinary habit to build to maintain your mental health as well. Apart from all the physical benefits of a regular exercise routine, working out is advantageous for your mental well-being.

Completing a new or challenging workout can feel like a huge accomplishment. However, even mild exercise can have terrific results on your mental health. For example, a regular exercise routine can help fight anxiety, depression, and stress! Working out builds endorphins, promotes neural growth, and serves as a distraction from the day-to-day grind. Physical activity can reduce anxiety by relieving tension and stress and giving your mind something to focus on. But that’s not all. Exercising leads to sharper memory, higher self-esteem, improved energy, and better sleep—all crucial components of mental health.
