Construction work on N. White Chapel Boulevard has crossed the mid-year mark. Crews completed about 90% of the paving on the new southbound lanes of traffic this week. Next week, they will install temporary ramps for access to Chapel Downs and S. School Drive. In order to complete the paving of all the southbound lanes, contractors will have to remove the temporary drive located at S. School Drive as well as the existing eastbound lanes of Chapel Downs. Contractors are on schedule to make the traffic switch before the beginning of the school year. Plans to install sidewalks in front of Carroll High School are also in the works. Construction of the screening wall between Ascot Drive and the northern limit of the project is still underway. The masons are about 80% complete with this section. The N. White Chapel Widening Project is estimated to cost $17 million and is scheduled to be completed by spring 2022, weather permitting.
