UPDATE: May 13, 2022: Avant Chamber Ballet and Apex Arts League present a free performance of Peter and the Wolf with live music on May 15th at 2 p.m. inside the ballroom at The Marq Southlake. The show is family-friendly and welcomes all ages!

The performance will include Paul Mejia and Sergei Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf, plus classical ballet excerpts from Glazunov’s Raymonda and new works by Katie Puder and Eugene Barnes III. Pianist Mikhail Berestnev will accompany the dancers from Avant Chamber Ballet and Avant Chamber Ballet Trainees, ACB's second company.

“We are so excited to present our free spring concert with Apex again this year,” says ACB artistic director Katie Puder. “This performance is a perfect one-hour show for the family to enjoy the outdoors and introduce children to the performing arts.”

The performances are presented by Apex Arts League and made possible by the City of Colleyville, the City of Southlake, Fichtenbaum Charitable Trust, and the Texas Commission on the Arts.

The Apex Arts League and the Texas Chamber Music Project (TXCMP) will present Music and Film on Sunday, March 27, at Southlake's White's Chapel UMC. The performance starts at 3 p.m.

The TXCMP will feature a Charlie Chaplin classic film accompanied by the orchestra performing Brahms Hungarian Rhapsody, conducted by Thomas Connely.

Connely will also conduct other works by Haydn and Mozart featuring Minjung Park on piano.

The Texas Chamber Music Project of the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex is a 501c3 community-driven orchestra founded by veterans of the North Texas classical music scene specializing in music written for smaller ensembles.

Fall is here and it's time for the Southlake Arts Council and the APEX Arts League’s Fall Art Exhibit!

Art lovers in Southlake are invited to visit the Town Hall lobby to experience the vibrant art of local Southlake artist Deanna Kienast. Kienast’s one-of-a-kind art continuously demonstrates style and creativity.

Deanna Kienast is a local professional and a self-taught artist who has been a Southlake resident for 27 years. Her art has been commissioned for luxury hotels, fine dining venues, corporate headquarters, professional offices, medical facilities, high-end design studios, and numerous private homes. Kienast’s personal guarantee is that clients will love the completed commissioned paintings, or no purchase is required.

This Fall, Town Hall visitors can appreciate “Flying Colors,” an exhibit of lush and textured abstracts fueled by the creative energy of music, massive construction, and traffic from October 3 through November 17.

The Southlake Arts Council in collaboration with the APEX Arts League is hosting a reception for Deanna Kienast on Sunday, October 3, from 5:00-6:30 PM in the lobby of Town Hall.

Strokes, the kick-off for Art in the Square showcasing 2021 featured artists is displayed at Southlake Town Hall. The community has the opportunity to view a sampling of the creativity of five artists, four from DFW area and one from Oregon, that will be participating in the event to be held September 24-26 at Southlake Town Square.

Because of COVID-19 the community has three options for viewing this year’s talented artists. In-person, online (www.artinthesquare.com) or QR code (found on signs at Town Hall) viewings are available. Just scan the QR code on your phone. QR will be at top of Art in the Square signs displayed.

While enjoying this fabulous artwork, we invite all to cast a vote for your favorite artist for the 2021 Art in the Square. The artist receiving the most votes will be 2021 People’s Choice Winner. The public has the opportunity to vote through the end of April.

Join the Apex Arts League as they present their first opportunity to bring you “DSO on the GO Brass Quintet,” featuring world class musicians from the Dallas Symphony Orchestra on Sunday, November 8 at 3 p.m. at the Aria Amphitheater at The Marq Southlake.

The Dallas Symphony Brass will present an afternoon of popular, classical and jazz favorites composed and arranged for brass quintet. Out of all orchestral instruments, brass lend themselves to outside performances because of their ability to project so all can hear.

This concert is free and open to the public. Please bring a chair and or blanket to enjoy this outdoor event. Masks and social distancing requirements will be enforced.

With its 12th Annual Jazz Fest, the Apex Arts League will present the University of Texas One O’clock Lab Band in concert on Saturday, February 29 at 7 p.m., at Carroll Senior High School Auditorium located at 1501 West Southlake Boulevard.

These three talented high school jazz bands will open the program, performing commissioned pieces written by composition students at UNT.

The One O’Clock, under the direction of Alan Baylock, is the premier seven time Grammy- nominated performing jazz ensemble from the internationally acclaimed University of North Texas’ Jazz Studies Program.

“Mozart and More: Musical Gems for Oboe and Friends”

The concert will feature Eric Barr, Principal Oboe Emeritus of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, performing famous works of the Classical repertoire, including a movement from the Mozart Oboe Quartet; as well as melodies by Gershwin and Berlin that will encourage humming or singing along.

This program will then travel to several North Texas nursing homes, hospitals, cancer clinics, and Head Start centers as part of Texas Winds Musical Outreach. The mission: to engage, comfort and celebrate the spirits of isolated seniors, hospital patients, veterans and children in North Texas through live, professional musical performances.

Join us for this “Gem” of a performance and learn more about how Texas Winds “turns dining halls into concert halls,” taking live music out of the concert hall and bringing it directly to people who have little opportunity to experience it.

The dinner theater will take place Thursday, January 30 at 7 p.m. at The Marq Southlake. Doors will open at 6:45 p.m. Seats will be assigned.

The theater will bring back the days when families sat around the radio. Historically, radio drama depended on dialogue, music and sound effects to
help the listener imagine the characters and story. With the addition of the finest local thespians on the stage, it is sure to entertain. Expect drama, intrigue, humor, cool sounds and old tim advertisements.

A full dining experience hinting to 1940s family dining with a contemporary twist will be provided by City Kitchen. Wine will be included.
