Apex Arts League to Present In Memoriam: A Memorial Day Dedication by The New American Quartet

APEX Arts League, a volunteer nonprofit organization dedicated to actively advancing the arts, artists and arts education in the apex of the Dallas /Fort Worth Metroplex, is proud to present its forthcoming chamber music concert titled ‘In Memoriam: A Memorial Day Dedication’, featuring The New American Quartet.

Comprising principal musicians of the Dallas Symphony and friends, The New American Quartet will engage the audience with an inspiring program of works by Dvorak, Barber, Gershwin and Porter, honoring those who died defending our freedom and democracy as well as celebrating the grandeur and optimism of the American life.

This dedicative concert continues APEX’s successful Chamber Series, providing patrons with the opportunity to experience the detailed color and vibrancy of music in more intimate venues. The concert will take place on Sunday, May 27 at 7:00 p.m. in Grace Chapel at White’s Chapel UMC in Southlake. Refreshments will follow the concert.

DSO on the GO: Southlake

The Dallas Symphony Orchestra (DSO) announces its return to Southlake, Texas, as part of the DSO on the GO concert series. DSO on the GO is presented by Ebby Halliday, REALTORS.

Assistant Conductor Ruth Reinhardt will lead the DSO in a program of exciting classical works on April 5, 2018, at 7:00 p.m. at White’s Chapel United Methodist Church. Selections will include Mendelssohn’s Hebrides Overture, Prokofiev’s “Classical Symphony,” Grieg’s Peer Gynt Suite and more.

Patrons may arrive early for a pre-concert lecture. It will be led by DSO Director of Education, Jamie Allen at 6:15 p.m.

Apex Arts League and The Dallas Symphony Orchestra (DSO) announce a performance in Southlake in October as part of the DSO on the GO concert series. DSO on the GO is generously supported by Ebby Halliday, Realtors.

Assistant Conductor Ruth Reinhardt and the Dallas Symphony Orchestra will return to Southlake on October 15, 2017, at White’s Chapel United Methodist Church. DSO Principal Second Violin Angela Fuller Heyde will perform Edgar Meyer’s Violin Concerto, a traditional solo work colored with Meyer’s bluegrass roots.

“I am so excited to share the stage with my colleagues for this beautiful work,” said Fuller Heyde. “I love the colors and energy of the Meyer Violin Concerto, especially its complex rhythms and gorgeous melodies.”

Other works on the program also explore folk music through an unexpected lens. Aaron Copland’s Three Latin American Sketches represent the iconic American composer’s musical reaction to his visits and studies in Mexico.  Dvořák’s American Suite was written after the composer’s famed trip to the “New World” and mixes American themes and Czech folk music.

APEX Arts League brings to Southlake talented musicians from the Dallas Symphony Orchestra on April 2nd.

The APEX Arts League through its APEX Chamber Series Concert, “Of Angels Wings” brings to Southlake Dallas Symphony Orchestra’s Principal Harp player Emily Levin and Violinist Bruce Wittrig on Sunday, April 2nd at 6:00 PM at the luminous and intimate setting of Grace Chapel at White’s Chapel UMC. Be inspired by the works of Bach, Debussy, Massenet and Paganini, as the wide ranging nuances, color and vibrancy of the harp and violin are showcased through both duet and solo works. Dallas Symphony Orchestra (DSO) will perform at White’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Southlake, TX on October 23, 2016.

The Dallas Symphony Orchestra (DSO) announces its performance in Southlake in October as part of the DSO on the Go concert series. DSO on the GO is generously supported by Ebby Halliday, REALTORS.

“We are very happy to be returning to Southlake this fall,” said Dallas Symphony Orchestra President & CEO Jonathan Martin. “These communities have been so welcoming to the DSO, and we enjoy performing to audiences in their neighborhoods.”

Assistant Conductor Ruth Reinhardt will make her debut in Southlake on October 23, 2016 at White’s Chapel United Methodist Church. Reinhardt and the Dallas Symphony Orchestra will perform a diverse classical program including Mendelssohn’s Hebrides Overture, Barber’s Adagio for Strings, Beethoven’s First Symphony, “Strings” from Jennifer Higdon’s Concerto for Orchestra and the Mozart Bassoon Concerto, with DSO Associate Principal Bassoon Scott Walzel.

APEX Arts League Presents “The Four Elements” Chamber Music Concert

APEX Arts League, a volunteer non-profit organization dedicated to actively advancing the arts, artists and arts education in the apex of the Dallas /Fort Worth Metroplex, is proud to announce its chamber music concert titled ‘The Four Elements’ as the first performance to introduce the APEX Chamber Series. Comprising esteemed musicians from the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and Dallas Opera, Les Autres will perform the music of some of chamber music’s greatest pioneers including Mozart, Beethoven and Schubert. A special arrangement of a known theme by John Williams will conclude the concert.

APEX presents smallIn recognizing that that evolution of live classical musical has been increasingly predicated on the grand concert hall experience, the APEX Chamber Series invites its patrons and their guests to learn and explore the detailed nuances, color and vibrancy of the chamber music art form in more informal venues. This inaugural concert, which APEX plans as the first of many, will take place on Sunday September 25th at 630pm, in the luminous but intimate setting of Grace Chapel at White’s Chapel UMC in Southlake. The soloist for the evening is DSO Principal French horn David Cooper who will play Mozart’s Concerto No. 4 for Horn.

DSO on the GO Performance Scheduled October 3

The Dallas Symphony Orchestra (DSO) announces its return to Southlake for a pops concert on October 3, 2013. The performance at White’s Chapel United Methodist Church marks the third season the DSO has performed in Southlake with APEX Arts League as part of the DSO on the GO concert series. DSO on the GO is presented by The Ebby Halliday Companies, with generous support from TACA.

“We are very happy to be returning to Southlake for the third year in a row,” said Dallas Symphony Orchestra President and CEO Jonathan Martin. “Audiences have welcomed us enthusiastically in the past, and we hope this concert provides entertainment and inspiration to reinforce the full cultural life of the city.”

For this concert, conductor Rei Hotoda and the Dallas Symphony Orchestra will perform a pops program including the spirited Candide Overture by Bernstein; “Pops” Hoe-Down by Richard Hayman; Morton Gould’s American Salute; Western-themed music from Copland’s Rodeo; popular pieces by Rossini (The Barber of Seville Overture) and Verdi (the “Triumphal March” from Aida) and other familiar music. The soloist for the evening is DSO Principal Second Violinist Angela Fuller Heyde who will play Ravel’s Tzigane, a fiery, gypsy-style showpiece for violin and orchestra.
