Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra to Perform in Southlake Under Assistant Conductor Taichi Fukumura

The APEX Arts League will present the Family Concert, Peter and the Wolf, a musical composition by Tchaikovsky, feautring the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra under Assistant Conductor Taichi Fukumura, at White’s Chapel Methodist Church on Thursday, April 13 at 6 p.m.

In this musical, families will be immersed in an adventure brought to life through music and narration while also learning about the instruments which comprise the orchestral sound. The FWSO will portray the power of the sea through their performance of Mendelssohn’s Hebrides Overture and the orchestral arrangement of Sobre las Olas ‘over the waves’ by Juventino Rosas.

“One of the joys of my role with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra is going out into the community to introduce our audiences to new music and perform repertoire they hold close to their hearts,” said FWSO Assistant Conductor Taichi Fukumura. “I am looking forward to sharing this music with the citizens of Southlake through this partnership with the APEX Arts League!”

The Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra’s Sounds of the Season Holiday Concert
Join the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra and the Apex Arts League for their annual Sounds of the Season holiday concert at White’s Chapel United Methodist Church. Assistant Conductor Taichi Fukumura will lead this program of holiday favorites, including Selections from the Jingle Bells Forever, Selections from How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Sleigh Ride, and more.

This Sounds of the Season holiday program will take place on Tuesday, December 20 at 7:00 PM at White’s Chapel United Methodist Church. The Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra will return to Southlake on Thursday, December 19  at 7 p.m. to perform at White’s Chapel United Methodist Church for a holiday concert celebrating the season.

FWSO Conducting Fellow, Alex Amsel will lead the orchestra in an array of holiday favorites including Leroy Anderson’s “A Christmas Festival” and “Sleigh Ride,” Guaraldi’s “Charlie Brown Christmas,” amd selections from Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker and a holiday sing-along. The program, titled Sounds of the Season, is presented in partnership with the Apex Arts League.

Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra and Ballet Frontier to Perform Suite from the Firebird in Southlake

In partnership with Apex Arts League, the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra will return to White’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Southlake to perform a family concert featuring the Suite from the Firebird by Igor Stravinsky on Oct. 21 at 6 p.m.

Dancers from Ballet Frontier of Fort Worth will accompany the orchestra during the performance. The ensemble will also be performing Benjamin Britten’s, “The Young Persons Guide to the Orchestra.”

Apex Arts League partners with FWSO to bring the music of Harry Potter films to Southlake

There’ll be wand-waving of a different sort during the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra’s Halloween-themed concert on Sunday, October 22, 2017, when Associate Conductor Alejandro Gómez Guillén leads the orchestra in musical selections from the Harry Potter films. This family-friendly concert will take place at White’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Southlake and include an instrument petting zoo provided by Music & Arts for children to try out different orchestral instruments.

Magic wand in hand

Halloween with Harry Potter—presented in partnership with the Apex Arts League—will include orchestral music from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, featuring music by Academy Award®-winning composer John Williams.

Concert-goers are invited to attend in their Hogwarts-regalia or their muggle clothes. This concert begins at 6:00 PM in White’s Chapel UMC, Southlake on Sunday, October 22, 2017. The instrument petting zoo will begin one hour earlier at 5:00 PM. Prices are $10 for children and $20 for adults, with discounts available for Apex members. Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra to Perform an American Salute in Southlake

The Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra will perform “An American Salute,” a concert of musical patriotism, on May 26, 2017 at White’s Chapel United Methodist Church.

Associate Conductor Daniel Black will lead the orchestra in Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture, John Williams’s Summon the Heroes, Unger’s Ashokan Farewell, a medley of American marches, and much more.

“These concerts allow us to offer a small token of appreciation to our armed forces and to bring the community together with a selection of music that most people know and love,” said Daniel Black. “It’s important for the orchestra to maintain an active presence outside of Bass Performance Hall, and I think the Symphony does an excellent job of bringing these sorts of community programs to the public.”

This family-friendly performance will take place at 7:00 p.m. in White’s Chapel United Methodist Church at 185 South White’s Chapel Boulevard in Southlake, TX, 76092.
