Ready to take a swing this spring season? Continuing its year-round program offerings, Southlake Tennis Center (STC) is serving up spring opportunities for juniors and adults. From classes for beginning junior players to competitive leagues for seasoned adults, grab your racquet and get in the game this spring!

The next session for junior players starts January 9. Adult spring leagues start mid-February.

For ages 5-16, the spring program for juniors is based on the school year and consists of two class sessions: January 9 - March 12 and March 20 - May 21. The break between the two sessions coincides with Spring Break for CISD and other area schools. Different levels of classes are held weekdays after school and on Saturdays. Junior players receive individualized attention in small groups and are moved up within the program based on skill development. Level 1-2 is for players who are new to tennis or have minimal experience. Levels 2-3 for advanced beginner/intermediate players who have had previous instruction. Levels 4-5 are for competitive players and require instructor permission to join.

The junior program uses the principles from Evolution Kids, a leading junior program used at John McEnroe’s Academy, and other leading programs throughout the world. The focus is on giving players the skills they need to start playing matches right from the beginning. Players are taught how to play points and games. Skills focus on controlling and directing the ball to help win points. Coaches work on developing athletic skills, court movement, and basic tennis techniques to help in match play at each level.

For adults, STC offers a wide variety of activities, including adult beginner/advanced beginner classes, weekly open drills for all levels, intramural league play, and tournaments/social events. Weekly drills for different levels of play are available now. Players can sign up online or in the Pro Shop. Players looking to improve their game can book a private lesson with one of the certified teaching professionals.

Registration for in-house spring leagues for men and women opens on January 15. There are different formats, from progressive leagues to set partner, divided into levels for competitive match play. All leagues include court fees and balls. Players are required to have the minimum NTRP rating to participate. STC is also a host site for teams who play in local leagues including Northeast Tarrant Tennis, Tennis Competitors of Dallas, and USTA Leagues run by the Greater Fort Worth Tennis Coalition.
